Dr. Bell is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto and has been practicing family medicine for over 4 decades. In addition to his clinical work, he’s a founding member, immediate past vice president and board of directors of Thrombosis Canada.
He is chair and first author of the Clinical Practice Guidelines for Cannabis and Cannabinoid-Based Medicines in the Management of Chronic Pain and Co-Occurring Conditions, and has also co-authored 5 national guidelines for the Canadian Cardiovascular Society, acting as co-chair on two. Dr. Bell is also a co-author of the Canadian Hypertension Guidelines.

His research interests include osteoporosis, diabetes, nephrology, heart failure, hypertension, atrial fibrillation, thrombosis, cannabis-based medicine, and delivery of care with 57 peer reviewed publications, including 27 in the past 3 years.

He has been nominated by the College of Family Physicians of Canada for Family Physician of the year and is a recipient of their Award of Excellence.
